Welcome to the ESL Assessment Consortium. The Consortium was established by members of the British Columbia Lower Mainland School Boards. Its purpose is to consider various issues related to the assessment of students who come from homes where the language spoken is not English. See “LOMERA”  in the BC Teacher and Gunderson (2012) in Publications for a history.

Consortium activities include the development of assessment instruments, cross-district cooperation in the development of ESL support levels, and the implementation of assessment research.

We gratefully acknowledge the BC TEAL Charitable Foundation that supported, in part, the development of an online Lower Mainland English Reading Assessment.

We gratefully acknowledge the support from the Faculty of Education at UBC’s John and Doris Andrews Grant to conduct research on our online Assessment.
